Another month, same intermittent dull upload issue

I think this makes it the iv or 5th time in half-dozen months where my upload goes to crap. Seriously, this is getting to be a monthly problem with WOW and information technology'due south royally pissing me off. I'll lay coin it's something on their side, again...... just like it e'er is. The just good thing about it this fourth dimension is WOW'due south speed exam site is also showing the slow uploads:

»wowway.speedtestcustom.c ··· ab258504

»wowway.speedtestcustom.c ··· ab258504

....the bad part though is since I ain my own modem, that will get the blame. A truck will be sent out to find some exterior problem.... information technology will get stock-still like it always does......... I'll have to call in and tell them to remove the $l charge since it was a problem outside my house.......my neb will get adjusted..........my upload speeds will be perfect for four-6 weeks and then I'll be back here over again. (To new comers, check my posting history.......... this is but ridiculous.)

I was alerted to the problem just like all the other times...... my brother called and said he'due south trying to stream Plex/Emby Alive Tv set from me and he'south getting lots of pauses and buffering letters. I checked a few speed exam sites and all show the same.... anywhere from 5-10Mbps instead of 50Mbps. (I'm on the 500/l plan.) Google Drive uploads are total crap at present and uploads to my company FTP server is in the toilet again.

Off to call WOW support I guess.

Called WOW support and CSR said my ability levels are a chip on the low side and scheduled a tech to come up out next Sabbatum. We DID have some freezing rain the other nighttime so maybe that's what did it?

Right now I would exist pretty happy with what you lot are getting. I haven't had any bug until tonight. Of a sudden my upload is completely shot.

I have 500/l service. I normally go effectually 30mb upload because they merely accept two upload channels in my neighborhood (for some unknown reason.) Getting those results took a while. The WOW speed test wouldn't even test the upload. It just pops upwardly a dialog informing that there is an upload failure. For all intents and purposes it's dead. I will upload a screenshot of my modem status later. I can't get it to complete right now.

Well my upload has improved some today then that it is at least usable. Last night my upload power levels were 28.0dBmV. It would appear that it is changing with the outside temps which is an indicator of an outside line upshot. Of course when I chosen they claimed that the SB8200 is unsupported and I had to become dorsum and forth a few times saying that I've been using it for months and it has worked fine, that I am aware the SB6190 is officially supported (which I had but I got rid of due to puma 6 issues), and that I sympathize that I will have to pay $50 if my modem is the problem.

Well I connected my modem directly to the box on the side of my business firm and the effect persists. That rules out my inside wiring. At least correct now the connectedness is not completely crippled. I will have to wait until the temperature drops again tonight to see if that truly is exposing the issue.

I put a message on my neighborhood's facebook page and it turns out this problem is neighborhood wide. Numerous people have tech visits scheduled for tomorrow. Mine is scheduled for Tuesday. Hopefully I will be able to abolish mine.

Dude, your upstream power levels are really low. Everything below 35 dBmV is considered bad.

Things returned to normal all day today. I can consistently push 50+Mbps to Google Drive and an FTP server. Plex/Emby streams to friends and family are stone solid. If it rains or we become freezing rain over again and upload speeds drop, I think there's a crack/leak somewhere.

Volition probably abolish the tech visit if things proceed to hold.

Every bit others have said, your ability levels are borderline bad, especially the upstream!

Well I was worried that the problem would exist masked today equally information technology warmed up significantly. According to what my neighbors are maxim that fearfulness has been realized. The tech tested at their outset terminate and the upload looked good so they called their subsequent scheduled customers and asked them to test. In the meantime my power levels on the upload streams are sitting at around 29dBmV. The temps are going to drib significantly over dark and the next two days are gong to be really cold. Dollars to donuts the problem rears its ugly caput once again. I have a tech scheduled for tomorrow afternoon but at that place is possible snowfall in the forecast. This town can't handle snowfall. Everything stops. So we'll see what happens.

I cancelled the tech appointment 15 minutes agone considering my uploads accept been stone solid. Like an idiot, I should accept checked one last time because I only checked my uploads and things are dorsum to freaking 10Mbps.

Tested information technology this morning and upload speeds were 50+Mbps. Tried it just now and back to 10Mbps. Either overloaded node or something ecology.

I asked for help on their Facebook page and as well via an email survey I got from when I called in a week ago. Going to effort and avoid the front line folks since the problem comes and goes and I don't feel like eating a $50 charge for something that is I'yard certain, a problem on their side.

Well it would seem that my upstream levels were a separate issue from the one they fixed at the start of the week. The tech put a splitter on the line and that pulled my levels up.

Adding attenuation (such as a splitter) will brand the US levels reported past your modem college, but information technology DOESN'T fix the problem. The CMTS still receives communications from your modem at about the same power level as it did before the splitter was added.

Well you may exist right. Information technology tested alright when the tech was here just I'yard nonetheless not seeing consequent results. This is a drastic change from what I have experienced upwardly until recently. Here is a typical exam for this night:

I am seeing similar results with the WOW test. This isn't acceptable for 500/fifty service. I'm hoping that wowMike tin provide some help when he returns.

For starters, you have only 2 upstream channels (that would possibly explain merely 20mbps). But your download speeds look suspiciously familiar. All these speed tests - have they been performed with your PC connected directly to the modem (no router in between)?

My upload regularly tests between xxx and 35mbps which seems to be the max I tin can get on the 2 channels. Testing in the x - 20mbps range is unusual until recently. Nigh of the tests I have performed during this outcome have been continued straight to the modem but I have no problem utilizing 500/fifty with my router. It is an ASUS RT-AC88U running merlin firmware and hardware acceleration is enabled. Previous to this problem I regularly tested with the router. The LAN itself is wired and it runs to a 24-port patch panel which connects to a 24-port gigabit switch. Sending TCP traffic with iperf my LAN maintains 950mb throughput.

I actually tested it a few hours afterward and the speed was back to normal. This exam was through the router.

And here is another just now.

I would think the surface area would really exist less busy than it used to be because AT&T installed fiber final year and a lot of people have been switching. Then again people may be signing upwardly for higher tiers and watching higher resolution streaming video so acme speeds can't be maintained on a Sun night.
